Bee and Puppycat is one of those love it or hate it type of books, an incoherent jumble of ridiculousness that somehow manages to be totally enjoyable. At times the debut feels nonsensical and just plain random, but underneath there is a certain level of method to the madness. That said, every page is just brimming with character as the infectiously positive Bee works with the adorably curmudgeonly Puppycat. If you're a fan of the shorts then there's much to love, though it must be said that the uninitiated may succumb to a fair amount of head scratching.

The book's giant panels also aid in the overall cartoony feel, essentially giving you a full episode in paper form. The art has a strong animated influence, characters translating well from screen to page, though Bee looks a touch young when compared to her on-screen counterpart. To further explain the plot would only lessen its impact, which is a fancy way of saying that even we can't tell you. She's joined by Puppycat, a nap loving, platform shoe rocking something-or-other who looks like he walked right out of Adventure Time.

The book follows the ever-unemployed Bee as she works to land that magical temp job that will in turn lead to some coinage. Bee and Puppycat #1 marks the first printed adventures of the titular pair, creator Natasha Allegri again bringing the same sense of charm and whimsy that made the initial short so popular. For those unfamiliar, Bee and Puppycat originated as an animated short on Cartoon Hangover that was given extended life via Kickstarter after overwhelmingly positive fan response.
